67 -68 Stepside w body molding??
Did the 67-68 Stepside trucks come with body side molding? All the pics I've seen of stepsides, dont have moldings. Hoping someone could enlighten me. Pics would be great if you have them.

Re: 67 -68 Stepside w body molding??
the stepside trucks could and did have body trim. it only went to the back of the cab and looked pretty bad. Typically the stepside was the low option truck to begin with and trim was an option. In the town I grew up in a gentleman had a 67 GMC stepside , that had the trim to the back of the cab and then the step bed. He bought the truck new from the local lot and has had it ever since. Although not many had it, it was possible to have trim on them just not on the bed.

Re: 67 -68 Stepside w body molding??
Is that true in 1972 too? If you had a factory Cheyenne Super stepside should it have trim? I have always wanted to build one, but if it had to have the trim to be correct, I don't think I would do one.

Re: 67 -68 Stepside w body molding??
I have always had the idea of building a stepside and adding rear 67-68 fleetside trim to the bed, it will prob fit and look nice as well....

Re: 67 -68 Stepside w body molding??
I think it was only 67/68.We've seen all original Cheyenne Supers w/o trim.Trim wasn't an option on Cheyenne Supers,it was part of that package.I have seen 67 or 68 GMC adds with a Fenderside Super Custom that had molding.Pretty sure i've seen Chevys.

Re: 67 -68 Stepside w body molding??
I have seen one super stepside that had the molding, I thought it looked bad (in a bad way), according to the trim option for super, the step side was the exception to the trim, body side molding. According to the sales flyer for the super " YE9 option available on all series 10-30 and chassis cabs. This option will feature all items included in present cheyenne option Z84 with the following additions: Bright hub caps (RPO PO3- except dual wheel, Body side upper moldings (RPO B85) Fleetside models only, bright metal tailgate latch- fleetside only, cloth and vinyl seat trim (bench seat only)- houndstooth pattern in parchment /black, blue/black and olive/black replaces the all vinyl cheyenne z84 trim. Color -keyed floor carpeting in black, blue or olive, instrument cluster with RPO z53 guages and woodgrained face of cluster, Glove box nameplate- Cheyenne super, woodgrained treatment of glove box door". From this it seems only lower molding was available for stepside, but it was possible to get trim (lower woodgrain) on stepside at least through late 71- production for supers did not start until April of 71, so any super demonstrating a build date prior to april would either be a special order or faked. I always questioned the white super I had seen as it had upper molding, and this leads one to believe it was not a real super. there was a super that was documented on here at one time (red i believe) that met all of the above criteria and was documented. I think it was from texas as well.

Re: 67 -68 Stepside w body molding??
The red orange '72 Cheyenne Super Stepside from Texas (sold by one member to another) had no side moldings.Maybe he will chime in.I know cab & chassis Supers had the trim, but never saw a Stepside.I haven't seen them all,but I never miss one either.Maybe no one wanted just the front trim and didn't order it.

Thanks Harold and K, so basically it boils down to , you could have a 72 Super in a stepside and it would be “ correct” without the upper or lower molding.
