Your favorite wood bed - with black bed only
I'm so stuck and I've looked at so many threads and wood colors I'm lost.
![]() I'll be using rhino liner on the bed walls and the metal rails. So I need a wood that works well with it. I'm also thinking about making a wood railing for the step side. What you got? I want to work on it later this week. Any dark red maybe? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Bigsnoockmaster - that bed is stunning. Never heard of Lacewood. Where does it come from and where did you buy it?

Re: Your favorite wood bed - with black bed only
Its a Brazilian hardwood. I bought it local, rough cut, and machined and finished it myself. Some hardwood wholesalers have it. Thanks

Re: Your favorite wood bed - with black bed only
Here's a sample gallery I found online:
http://bedwoodandparts.com/g-1332-be...k-gallery.html I'm a hobby woodworker and have always been fond of the look of curly/flame/tiger maple, birch and cherry. They machine well, are fairly stable and finished right, the stripped patterning can really pop. I suggest only buying kiln dried lumber as air dried will often rehydrate outside and begin to move on you. If you're bed will see weather, and you're interested in a reddish color, padauk has great characteristics. Mahagony would also be a great choice, but it is quite a bit softer. Michael |

The lacewood is one of the nicest beds I've ever seen, great work.

Here is mine, the wood was treated with POR-15 and is sealed against moisture.
