4WD to 2WD with a Dropmember?

Sorry if this has been covered before.

I've been looking for a k5 blazer and since we all know 4wd's are alot easier to find than 2wd's I was wondering if it would be just as easy to pickup a 4wd and convert it to 2wd with a dropmember? If I find a k5 I would be bagging it anyway so I thought it might be just as easy to go with a 4wd since I'd be ditching all the front suspension either way you look at it. I guess a simpler way to put it , will a dropmember bolt up to a 4wd frame?

Feel free to correct me if I'm way off on my thinking.

It sure will. I have a 76 4WD blazer at the shop (one of my own) that's gonna get a Dropmember front and a trailing arm rear after we get moved and situated.

HHMMM... good to know. That broadens my purchasing market quite a bit.

Re: 4WD to 2WD with a Dropmember?

If I remember correctly there is a couple of members that have done this conversion. You just have to get the front crossmember from a 2wd for the front but I am not too sure about the rear because i think the frame is shaped a bit different.

With the right bank account (or parts inventory), friends (if you can call them that), & time frame (2 weeks should do it for you ) . . ..... anything's possible.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

It can be done. My Blazer project was originally 4wd. Converted to DM and trailing arms. Look in the projects and builds section under "How to Ruin a Perfectly Good Blazer"

Sorry man, it went quick- was only a matter of a few hours before I had full payment. Still sick over that one. It hurts to look at pictures...

Jason in Drastic Measures has a roller for sale. 2wd. You know your gonna rebuild it all anyway and he'd probably sell it pretty cheap.
