Rear end lowering Q's
I have decided when I drop it, I'm going to use spindles for correct geometry and better ride, but am undecided on the rear. I know shackles/hangers keep load rating, but do lowering springs give you a better ride? Do they keep the same payload rating or lower it? I'm leaning more towards shackles/hangers but would like to know the differences.

lowered springs will give you a softer ride, but take away in how much weight you can carry

That's what I thought. I'll stay with shackles/hangers then.

I want to do a 2/4. I don't like rake.

why not go 3/5? you could get some 3" spindles, and a 5" flip kit, no rake, and it shouldnt affect your payload capacity, other than the possibility of bottoming out. that could easily be fixed with a c-notch

I don't want to go the c-notch route. I want some extra clearence - I tend to push my truck. I need all the suspension travel I can afford!

Tyler,
you just as well go ahead and do a flip and notch now. You will before it's over with anyway. I started at 2/4 and am now at 4/6.

It's kinda' like boating. You buy a 21 footer, you soon want to go bigger, like a 25' or 27', then 32' and then 45', with the latter 2 being motor yachts. Save yourself the time and money and go with a 4/6 using spindles, lowering springs, flip kit, c-notch and either a shackle/hanger or lowering block. If you get rich and the itch, then go to bags.

I'm at 2.5/4 now and going to 4/6 soon too. Spindal and coils on the front. Dropped leaf springs 4" with the 4" shackel/ hanger combo I have now. Not sure how it will work. drop the most you plan and do it once.
