72 Blazer build

So i have moved along in my blazer build. I bought this last May and ripped out the interior and the wiring harness as they both were junk. I started putting in a new wiring harness from LMC Trucks, which wasn't as "plug and play or painless" as described. I got caught up in a few spots and decided to pull the body off and start from the frame up. Here is the project as it stands now. I am planning on putting in an LS2 engine and newer tranny, but i don't know the details on swaps, mounts, and how easy it is to change transfer cases, or if i can just use the old one. Any help would be nice. Also any ideas on what to seal the frame with? I was thinking of powder coating, but it seems expensive and unnecessary.

Re: 72 Blazer build

Here are some more pics of the progress. I borrowed a steam cleaner from my girlfriends dad. I cant believe how clean the frame, engine, and transmission became. I would eat off of the thing. This thing is now clean and in my garage, and i bought a cover so my neighbors wouldn't yell too much about the body being in the front yard. Luckily my buddy (shown in pics) will help me with this project,so hopefully it will be done by summer.

Re: 72 Blazer build

I havent found any rust on it, i am going to soda blast it and see what happens. There is a weird lip in the front that looks like it is supposed to be there, but i am not sure about it. Other than that, the body is straight.

Looks like a great build in the works. I am in the midst of one myself.

Sending you a PM with a few questions.

Re: 72 Blazer build

Ver nice.... just what I want to do ... LoMax NP205 from JB Conversions, its a case that will allow you to mount it right to the 4L60e or 4L80e without an adapter to keep driveline angles close to original... Not sure if anyone make a LS mount kit but there are some other LS conversions on here for reference....

POR-15 is a good option for the frame...

themb2g,

Great meeting you today!. The Blazer looks to be a great project, and now its a bit farther along.. Well OK only a small bit, but every step counts. Looking forward to seeing it after the blaster gets done with it.
