Acts like floating points...
Would a faltering coil cause a symtem like floating points? About ten years ago I put a Mallory Electronic conversion in my distro to replace the dual points I had. Everything worked great. (forward to present after the truck sat in storage for 5 years while I was stationed in Germany) I replaced my battery, plugs, wires, and even the Carb (just cause the ol' Carter was done). Still I get a variation when running at steady speed whether its a idle or hiway speed. It'll drop about 200 rpm just for an instant, and then run normal for about 20-30 seconds. Starting is no problem and the same with acceleration. The only two things it could be would be the coil or the distro. Anybody got any insight?

Re: Acts like floating points...
don't over look that it could be a fuel miss , a carb could cause a falt like this as well. good luck
