Hey everyone,

I have a Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. It has been used and while it is not corroded or anything, it does have some oil stains and is pretty dirty and so on and so forth.

I love the clean look of brand new intake manifolds and would like to make mine look like that once again. How would you all clean this so it looks like new? Beadblast? and what would everyone coat it in to protect it from getting stained and messy again?

Have it bead blasted (cost about 20.00) then have it clear coated. It will look BRAND NEW.

i went to the auto store and got some aircraft enamel remover its completely safe for aluminum and cost 5 dollars a can spray it on and rinse it off. the guy i bought my intake from sprayed the whole thing blue so im sure your oil stains will be no problem for it

I agree with Piston. Clearcoat after cleaning and painting. Cast alum. is very porous and holds grime easily. Clear coat makes it slick and easy to wash off. I also used it on my alum. wheels.

I have the same intake, and had the same problem. I beadblasted it, the used off the shelf clear coat spray paint, and really hit it hard after a solid cleaning. I put on 5 or 6 coats, masking off the top deck and where the bolts would go into the heads to ensure the correct torque on the bolts. I haven't cleaned it in a long time, but with some 409 on a shop rag, grime comes off, and it's a pretty smooth finish.
