alum dash overlay ???

OK, Swerve helped me out by giving me the link to the place that he purchased his dash overlay from...

http://www.trucknvans.com/billetacc/

...my question is, what is exactly the difference between the years? My truck originally had the A/C equipped woodgrain dash bezel, but it was broken when I bought the truck so i purchased a plain jane non-air bezel (bcause I removed the A/C) out of a JY truck and I have no idea what year it is.

I want to order one of these kits but before doing so I want to make sure I get the right one.

Thanks.

...Jeff

Jeff,

I don't know the differences between years on the dash bezel. You want to get confused, look under the Dash Accessories link. 73-77, 78-80, and 81-87.

You can buy everything they have seperate too. Bezel, dash insert, and door panel inserts. When you go to the cart, you can select polished or brushed.

How you like the premium dash upgrade? Puckey comes to mind for me. All this for $280.00 bucks.

I hate sites with frames.

Also, you gonna get the door panel inserts?

Differences were: some had 3 SPLIT panels instead of the once piece all around - one was one-piece all around - the third was the one-piece with a "window" at top for the check engine light.

Tyler, am I missing something?

The 73-77 kit and the 78-80 kit look identical to me.
I e-mailed the company, just waiting to hear back I guess.

Thanks for the help Mike & Tyler.

BTW Mike, I will get the door panel kit too...but i have to try and find tan straps if i can (in good shape), if not, then i will get the plain door kit.

If you nocie when you click on the picture, it is the same picture. They didn't take a picture of the third version (3 seperate panels).

About the pull straps - I got some at the local Chevy dealer for around $12 each (mine were black). Not too bad and they are brand new GM!

Ok folks, here is the E-mail i sent them (the mnfr of the bezels)...

Hi, looking at getting one of your kits, but have a couple questions.

1. Aren't all 73-80 kits identical? I have a 73 Chev truck but I have a non-73 bezel in place and unsure what year. What are the differences between 73-77 and the 78-80?

2. Do you offer the pass side panel without AC vents...just plain?

Thanks - Jeff

...and here is their reply...

The blinker lights are in different positions the gauges are very close but slighly of from one another and the column are are different shapes.

No unfortunatley only with the air vents many guys just paint there dash black behind the vents.

OK, I want to order one but don't want to get stuck with one that won't fit. Is his answer true? I would have never thought so since they all look identical (the dash bezels).

Would anyone want to buy one if I happen to get the wrong one? I think I will order a 73-77 satin and hope it fits, but by chance it doesn't I will order a 78-80 and hope to sell the other. I never thought to ask about their return policy, but I never like doing that since I always seem to get screwed.

Thanks - Jeff

Ah, I forgot about the blinkers. Dunno about the gauges size (I don't think they changed it, mabe the 3 seperate panel version???) I thought the columns were the same. Maybe not?

The air vents - every other place I have seen that sells billet has the non-A/C w/ no slots. Get it somewhere else and you won't have to deal with the vents.
