Tpi motor with vortec heads
Would adding Vortec heads on a tpi 350 be worth the 1000 or so dollars that it will cost to do the swap ? This will be on my daily driver thar will see no trail time

Personally I would say no, but all depends on what you're after though. What condition is your motor in right now?

The motor that is in the truck as of now runs fine but im unsure of the mileage and it's carbed. I want to go fuel injected for reliability and better fuel mileage, I have a 92 caprice cop car that's my winter beater it's a TBI 350. Plans were to pull that motor out rebuild it and slap a tpi setup on it ( heard they get better lowend torque and better gas mileage) so I'm just wondering what's the best setup to go with not even sure if it's worth switching from TBI to TPI so that's why I'm posting these questions. End result is I want the best mileage out of the motor that I have available to me. Had to throw that bit in because I know people are going to chime in and say just do a ls swap and be done but I'm not ready to take on that type of project as of now. I can have this swap done in a days time and won't have to cut, weld, or purchase any extra parts.

Swithching to a simple TBI setup would mabe a big difference. A guy here has a complete TBI and serpentine setup right now for $100. (cheap) I always run a single 3" exhaust in my 4wd Suburbans, I like the torque and the mileage has always been good. Mid length headers, and a good ignition system help too. You could have a local shop do you up a set of good heads for way less than a $1000 and use the extra money on a few other things. Lots of options out there.

So in your opinion should I go with the TBI setup (which I already have) or sell my TBI and get the tpi (which I have found for a prety low price) ?

I have no personal experiance owning anything with TPI so I'm the wrong guy to ask about that. I have had several with TBI and have absolutely never had a bad issue at all with it. When I replied earlier I forgot you had that extra TBI motor, sorry about that. You could always throw it on the Suburban and rebuild the extra block, then while you are doing that you can research what injection system you wanna go with. Then you won't feel rushed into making a quick decision. That's probably a route I would consider taking.

Actually post this question in the "engine and drivetrain" section, those guys can give you a way better answer than I can. They will know the ins and outs of everything over there. Or maybe shoot N2TRUX a pm and see if he can just move this thread there. He should move it for ya no problem.

Really? Hmmm... didn't expect that. When I get back in town next week I'll do a little looking and see what I come up with. Are you looking for performance or mainly reliability and mileage?
