I'm starting to think about what to do for my skinny pedal. I don't really care for the floor mount pedals much. I like how my dad's 71 pedal is on his truck, I don't know when they changed styles but it is mounted on the firewall and uses a cable rather than linkage. Does anyone have one of these that they swapped into their truck? Will it even work? I need some ideas..

I believe it started in 71, it should be a fairly easy install. Hardest part is probably making the square hole in the firewall. Its a pretty common swap in 67-70 trucks, might do a search to see if there is a write up explaining it. Also I believe someone made a kit, but if you got the whole setup I don't see what the kit has you would need other than maybe some templates for drilling holes.

It uses a square hole huh? Is that for the cable bulkhead probably? I'll do a quick search in the 67-72 section maybe I'll find something. I wonder if there is any difference in the firewalls between the two body styles. Thanks for the info!

The differences shouldn't be anything you couldn't work around. The cable's housing mounts to the firewall with a squared plug, aftermarket, i.e. lokar, don't use the squared plug, but the pedal assembly and cable are pretty common and cheap. They used that basic setup well into the 80s or later on cars and trucks.
