Idea, can it be done?
Want a set of 90-99 GM 8 bolt steel rims, the type that are called ralley, but they only came in 6.5 wide. I want them 8" wide can it be done, how?

Re: Idea, can it be done?
sure it can be done, any of the wheel builders, Stocton, Wheel Vintques etc can do it, but what will it cost you, might make it unreachable.

Re: Idea, can it be done?
There are local shops that can widen wheels. Start asking around. They aren't really rallyes. GM calls them styled steel wheels. We call them steelies, just stock wheels 88-98.

Re: Idea, can it be done?
If we are talking steelies - Wheel Vintques makes an 8 lug steel wheel from 6 - 10 inches - around a $100 a wheel (price depends on width) - black (but they can paint them too for more). TT

Re: Idea, can it be done?
I think he just want to know if he can run factory take offs. If so the answer is yes. The backspacing may not be to your liking. I am running some 2010 factory take offs and I am very happy with them.

Re: Idea, can it be done?
jablack yes they came with rings and centers on 88-99 chevys and GMCs I think they are only 6.5" wide and a bit too narrow for 285 75 16 tires.

eyebuz I looked at the wheelvintiques (sp) they are the type have the little ears that accept hubcaps. I want to use rings and centers.

Re: Idea, can it be done?
Those came on my 67 when I bought it. I think they are wider than that. I took them off and leaned them up against the garage a few years ago and forgot about them.

Re: Idea, can it be done?
they do fit, the center hole is a tick tight, a quick buz with a grinder would fix that, otherwise a sledgeis frequently needed to remove the wheel from the hub. The back spacing issue isn't nearly as bas as the 99 to date trucks, but they are tucked in a little further than stock. I had 275 width tires on a set of those rims and they were a bit too wide, but do-able... I think a 285 would be too much.
