Re: 250 to 350 conversion
ok, so I removed te overs and took pics. Did not find any casting numbers but did find the following. First two pics show the "saw tooth" and "hump" shapes which are used to identify if you have 906 or 062. As you can see, each head has both marks go figure.
the last pics show the stamps on the head which dont look like a GM stamp. Does anyone know what they mean? |

Re: 250 to 350 conversion
Swamp rat, thank you for your lead I called the company and explained the pics I posted and he confirmed they are vortech EQ heads. The T rerpesents the manufacturing company in Australia and the 906 is what design they copy. If anyone knows any history of Engine Quest, please share. reputation quality etc. Overall I got a good deal on the heads but would like to know

Re: 250 to 350 conversion
Everything i was able to read while searching said they build heads for circle track racing and that the vortec's actually flow better than GM vortec's, but i don't know if they were testing the same exact heads as what you have.
I wouldn't be too concerned with the heads, with a racing background i would think there pretty good quality. Hotrodder mag did some street engine builds with them as well per what i read. Just google the heads and start reading.

Re: 250 to 350 conversion Update
I finally completed the 700r4 and connected to the engine. Installed TV correction kit, transgo shift kit, seals, boost valve and valve body gaskets and filter. Got a chance last night to install in the truck. Unfortunately, the shorty headers are directly above the crossmember which will not allow me to install the exhaust . Being that I purchased months ago on ebay, I will need to purchase another set of headers. Which headers are designed for our trucks? Here a pic of current progress.

Re: 250 to 350 conversion Update
I think i would search "Headder clearance" here on the forum, I have seen a number of threads where headder clearance was the issue.

Re: 250 to 350 conversion
Did you remove the crossmember that the old bell housing was mounted to? That needs to go and an automatic trans crossmember needs to be installed to support the transmission. I couldn't tell in your post if the bellhousing crossmember was the issue. WES

Re: 250 to 350 conversion
The bell housing crossmember was removed. The headers in the pics are shorty headers that are directly above the front end member. I searched the site and think that the headers for Chevelle will work. Found some 304T, 1/16 thick, 3/8 flange, 1 5/8 primary with 2.5 collectors for $150.00
