I would think you could just swap fenders like that. LMC lists the bedsides as 73-76 and 77-87 so I guess you could order or find a fender for a 77 or 78 ? It seems like there are two different placements of the round filler holes as well. My 76 has them up higher on the fender then some others ive seen, maybe earlier trucks.
