Re: can this be done
Are you meaning the top of the bed rails lined up? If that is what you are talking about it can be done with enough modifications, but it would look funny IMO; unless he is planning on channel the cab.

Re: can this be done
why would he want to do that?
Keep in mind that the rear fenders need to stay where they are height-wise to line up with the running boards. So, you'll need to add a fairly large panel above the filler panel so the bottom of the bed meets the filler panel. IMO it's gonna look like the old Good Humor ice cream trucks.

Re: can this be done
In one of the last Custom Classic Trucks magazine there was a 3100 that had a bed that was 2" or 3" higher than stock. It didn't look too bad, but it did through the proportions off though...

Re: can this be done
Have you looked at the bed on a 54 55 1st series?

Thanks for all info given guys. Just kicking around ideas and seeing what happens. He's just getting started and looking at good mods or just good ideas so if you have any please let me know plans are 6.0 with a 4L60E with boxed frame and corvette front suspension. Once again thanks in advance

Re: can this be done
So far he is looking into a garrett turbo and a narrowed 12bolt with 3.73 or 3.42 gears and paint Dr. Pepper red with silver fenders and running boards mods are gas tank in frame, wheels, all new drivetrain, frenched headlight with turn signals in them, front barritz bumper, and rear roll pan with lights this is just to get started so far bare frame with box plates and corvette sus. sitting on shop floor

Re: can this be done
A guy over here raised his bed 2",and lowered the fenders to line up with the running boards.(sorry no pic)
He had to form filler panels between the running board splash panel and also at the rear of the fender. It actually looked pretty good. It's one of those mods where unless you know ADs was hard to spot. To raise it as high as the cab belt line would look wierd, kinda like a utility truck.... Just sayin'...... |

Re: can this be done
You can tuck the running boards against the bottom of the cab. When you do that it will move the bottom of the finder mounting point up about 2 1/2" which means you can move the bed up with it and wont look out of place.

Re: can this be done
I raised the bed on my 48 2.5" when I did the S10 swap to help keep some bed depth.
I left the fenders in the same spot relative to the running boards and filled the gap with a simple sheet metal piece like this: |
