Chassis Plan - what do you think?
While I am waiting to go get my '70 cab and bed (in GA), and a '70 frame (here in FL) I have been crafting a plan for the chassis. You know scheming and dreaming. First, my plan is to swap the front cross-member and suspension from an 73-87 frame to make use of the 5 lug and disc brake set up. Second, I'd like to use the existing trailing arms but install the 73-87 rear axle. Third, my plan is to use an ECE 4/6 drop.
Some questions I have are: If I want to put a big block in it, which frame stands do I use, 68-71 or 72/73-87? The 73-87 rear axle doesn't have perches for the trailing arms or a boss for the track bar, are there brackets available for these? What do you all think? |

Re: Chassis Plan - what do you think?
Thanks Rob, I appreciate the info and lmk what you want for the frame mounts. I am chomping at the bit to get started, but the logistics and timing for picking up my truck haven't lined up yet, so I am passing the time trying to get a clear plan for building it.
If you are going to be at any cruises or shows in NWF let me know I'd like to check out your truck(s). Buck Last edited by C10_ustacould; 01-29-2011 at 06:42 PM. |
