I need help saving a 67 flatbed in North Alabama
Shes been abandoned in Alabama in the woods since at least 1997 and surprisingly has a rust free cab, I've exhausted all options of finding an owner, its on Sand Mountain in Alabama in a little town called Dutton and I have no way of pulling it to my home here in Apison Tn, its 12 miles east of Chattanooga, if anyone can help plz pm me.

So, what's in it for the good samaritan with a truck and trailer?
Also, what's involved to legally remove the truck? Is it on private property? What is local law enforcement going to make of a couple of rednecks yankin' and winchin' on an old truck? It sounds like something I'm up for, I just need to know if I need to get together bail money! Last edited by Zeke's Garage; 01-30-2011 at 01:44 AM. |

Re: I need help saving a 67 flatbed in North Alabama
i would be careful doing that me and my friend went to get a truck out of the woods that he bought for parts and he even paid the guy for it but when we went to go get it we wasnt told that he was going through a divorce and when we was pulling out of the yard her new boyfriend introduced us to his shotgun. Theres not a truck in this world worth getting shot over or going to jail over even if its rust free. Who knows what would happen when you get it on trailer and start going down the road the owner might find you

In GA, there's a legal way to do it, you have to work with local law enforcement to verify that it's not stolen, and that the last registered owner cannot be located. Also, if it's on private property, you'll have to have their permission as well before the police will let you take off with your 'find'.
It sounds like a fun adventure, but it would cost me more in gas in my Suburban than I could justify for it. Seriously, talk to the local police and they can tell you exactly what you need to do legally. Shawn |

Thank you Shawn, I'll have a talk with the cops next time im down that way or maybe have some family do a lil "legal" work for me lol, I really want to get my hands on it if I can just because of the year and bed, condition of the cab is just icing on the cake.
