frame swap

I have a 67 1/2 ton body that I want to put on an 81 3/4 ton frame. I was wondering if anybody has done something like this, if so how hard is it to mount the cab on the 81 frame.

Are you swapping 2wd 1/2 ton to 4wd 3/4 ton or 2wd 3/4 ton ?? Contact Mudder67, if I remember correctly about a year ago, I was going to do a similar swap but I was going to swap my 68 Cab to a 74 1/2 ton 2wd SWB Frame and I decided that I would rather shorten my frame because the way the frame is designed on a 73 - 87 Chev/GMC Truck, you will have to build special body lift for your Front Clip and the Front of Cab in order for the body line to match up.. And if the frame is a 2wd, it will make your 67 look like a 4wd, IMHO looks dumb when a 2wd truck looks like a 4wd...

Do you have a longbed now? If so, use a suburban frame, it will be much easier to mount your 67 cab because the frame section under the front/rear seats on the sub will be straight and not raised behind the front seat as is on the 73-up truck frame....

if shortbed, you might get away with a blazer frame, but i believe it would be a few inches too short, but you will have to double-check your measurements.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I will keep my truck frame and just swap the power steering stuff and some brake parts.

Well soulman67, the easiest way to get Disc Brakes under your 67 (trust me I am going to be doing this as soon as I take my cab, bed, front clip, engine and tranny) is take the whole front Crossmember (Front Suspension) from a 1/2 ton 73 - 87, if you want to keep your truck a 1/2 ton, if not just swap front suspension off of a 3/4 ton.. One reason why I suggest this is the fact that you will have Disc Front Brakes and you will get updated motor mounts!!! 67 - 72 Motor Mounts suck compared to 73-87 Motor mounts...
