Found my plates this weekend
Found these plates on craigslist for 45 bucks for the pair. The lady who does my plates said she could get them registered for my truck

Re: Found my plates this weekend
VERY NICE...
The price of plates has come down over the last couple of years... Previously it was hard to find a useable pair under a $100 Perhaps it was because they can no longer be used for CLASSIC registration, but on only ANTIQUE ??

Re: Found my plates this weekend
Popo1084 here is link that might shed some light on what Allengator was talking bout.
http://www.texasyom.com/2011 I just picked up some YOM plates for my '71 and my '57...probably just use them at car shows and stuff then switch them out to my regular plates for the drive home.

Re: Found my plates this weekend
very nice looking plates! I grab them whenever I find 67-72 VA plates for less than 50....which isn't very often

Re: Found my plates this weekend
Those look nicer than the TX plates that were on the wifes' Lexus, that were only 5 years old at the time.
I have a "few" license plates from AR. Unfortunately, beginning in '68, our basic plates are good for both passenger vehicles and trucks rated below 3/4-ton. Prior to that, I have a few truck-specific plates that are dated. None for my '69, tho. Nice find.

Re: Found my plates this weekend
I know alot of people that register as ANTIQUE good for 5 years and requires no state inspection!
You are not SUPPOSED to drive it everyday... But people do..... Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Found my plates this weekend
They can be used two way in ok. Register as antique which you do not want to do as it limits how you use the vehicle. The other way is as a vanity plate as long it is over 30 years old and have to have a decal displayed to show you have permission to display an expired plate and carry the vurrent plate in the vehicle

Re: Found my plates this weekend
With a screen name of popo, I'm assuming he's the police. I'd imagine if that's the case he won't sweat running the plates outside of the guidelines every once in awhile. The cops at the city where I work have told me they couldn't care less how often I drive my heaps with the antique registration. They're too busy dealing with real law breakers to worry about guys like us.

Re: Found my plates this weekend
TX, I hear ya, but you know those dern rookies get a wild hair and bust you for having too much dirt on your car. Arlington PD,Pantego and Mansfield all have that kind of rep.
