68 bumper guards
Just bought some nos bumper guards for a 68 but the only bumper that they fit right is on a 72 bumper I had laying around. I know my 68 bumpers are originals and I have 3 of them here I tried them on. I thought the concave shape on 67-72 were all the same. What the heck is going on here

Re: 68 bumper guards
I am guessing the 68 bumper is a repro or a re-chrome? The edges of the bumper don't look as "crisp" on the 68 bumper.

Re: 68 bumper guards
I do not have any pictures right now. But if you want to get them to fit tight, you will have to grind them to do it. But match them to the bumper you are going to use. I did a set for a man one time to match a bumper of mine. Then mailed them to him and they did not come close on his. Grind then have chromed of course!

Re: 68 bumper guards
I did recently have the 68 bumper rechromed, what throws me off is it does not fit on other oem 68 bumpers i have, but you guys are right, I will have to grind to fit and then rechrome

Re: 68 bumper guards
How do they fit if you slide them outward from the bolt holes about 8-9"? They were intended to mount outward from the frame rails. Still doesn't explain why they fit so well on a '72. Bumper stampings can vary within a particular style,I reckon.
