dana 60 front spring lift

I got a used 4 inch lift kit, guy told me it was for a 1 ton, but come to find out the front springs are considerably narrower than the stock ones. Already installed the rear lift blocks, so I'm kinda stuck now. I don't dare put these springs in, presumably they're for a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. Problem is, everywhere I look online at lift kits and lift springs, they either say it fits everything or it says for 1/2 and 3/4 ton and doesn't mention 1 ton. I am fairly certain I am not the first person to lift a truck on a dana 60 front, so somebody must make a wide lift spring, right? Any thoughts or suggestions on where to find them? I've looked at all the usual suspects, but I am hesitant to order something and end up with the same springs I've already got. Or am I supposed to change it t othe narrower springs? It looks to me like they'd be trying to move around on the axle.

Re: dana 60 front spring lift

I know a lot of people run the 52" rear springs on the front to get 4" lift.
But I know nothing about the 1 ton springs.
I did see these on DIY4by

Re: dana 60 front spring lift

Hello,

The fact that they're narrower than the stock leaves must be because they're aftermarket, not because it's a K30. The D60 front doesn't use any different leaves than a 1/2 or 3/ 4 ton truck, just more of them (have 3 leaves instead of two). At least that's my experience with the two I've had, hopefully someone else will chime in...

Out of curiousity, how wide are they?

Hope this helps,

Joe

If you read the link I posted it says:
"These were done as an option to those running narrower front springs like the ever popular 52's or 56" rears"

You also said that you "know nothing about the 1 ton springs". I was simply trying to convey that the stock 1 ton front leaves shouldn't be any different than 1/2 or 3/4 ton leaves...

Re: dana 60 front spring lift

I understand what you are saying, my point is the question is about lift springs, not stock springs. There seems to be some supporting info out there about narrower lift springs.

So are the stock front springs wider than the stock rear springs regardless of 1/2, 3/4, or 1 ton?

Re: dana 60 front spring lift

I posted this elsewhere too and was told all aftermarket leafs are 2.5, from 73-87 regardless of 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton application. Apparently the stock 1 ton leafs are only wider at the ends (3"), but they narrow down to 2.5 at the spring pad. Aftermarket springs make up the difference with wider bushings for 1 tons. So it looks like I was worried about nothing, and can use my lift springs. Good news!
