Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

Nice clean install, but I'm curious as to what you have for a center/upper stage presence. You mention tweets up in the dash, I'm assuming they are in the OEM locations vs. pillar mounted? Any other drivers up there for fill?

Just seems like a fair sized hole from the mid-bass and tweet down at your feet to just tweets up top.

And what is the scoop with ARC Audio? Last system I built and competed with it was with Orion HCCAs, a/d/s PowerPlates, Dynaudio, Morel and a few Focals thrown in for good measure! So you can tell how long it has been!

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

The problem with putting a center channel in an interior like this is the fact that you are so close to the speaker that a center channel will throw off the staging. If you sit in the center of the seat, you can notice it, but otherwise its not worth it. I've often though about a set of 4" components or a large 4x10 to act as a mid/center channel, but with this also comes an additional amp or amp swap, plus external processing in order to do it right. It's ALOT of work for basically nothing.

Additionally, the speakers in the door don't help the imaging at all. This truck isn't an SQ competition vehicle and I don't pretend it is. A couple people on the board have heard the truck playing, full tilt, and I'm sure they would say it gets the job done.

As far as the system being all Arc Audio, the truck is sponsored by Arc Audio and has shown for them on several occasions and will continue to show for them as long as they will allow me. They are a GREAT company with great products, built and operated by enthusiasts who take pride in what they do every day and I am honored to represent them.

Cool Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

So I was bored today and decided to play.

Not 100% sure, but you might want to turn your speakers down for this towards the end...

Also, it doesn't sound like garbage, the mic on the camera couldn't hope to record those tones properly, especially at such a high level. Also, that wasn't quite maxed out yet either...

LMAO, that's exactly why I got rid on my protege. I had my system in there for 4+ years and it was so bad that the rear quarter body panels started to flex and rattle. I broke a body weld and the rear window started to leak. But that wasn't the worst of it. I know can't go to clubs with out having earplugs.... Just a bit of advice, don't turn it up without having some kind of hearing protection.

Oh and very nice.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

It gets respect from the right people.

What I love is that I can feel the drums in my chest. "Dani California" by Red Hot Chilli Peppers is one of my favorite songs to play in the truck. High quality with awesome drums that tap you in your sternum. Brings a smile to my face every time...

Also, keep a look out for some work being done in early September. I'm working with another member to bring you guys a comprehensive guide to a cut-less stereo system.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

What is the depth dimension on those 10's?

Love the setup and the clean install, but the seat being moved forward even 1" would be a total deal breaker for me.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

You'll want shallow mount subs from one of the many companies that produce them then.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

Yeah, that was me. Your highs kicked my ass, but seeing what you have up top, I'm not surprised. My single pair of tweeters can't compete with all that and the fact that my 4ch amp has like 0% gain set on it right now helps.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

SoOoOo, we're about to tear this interior apart again and start over.

Converting to heated bucket seats, custom center console, new amp rack, new door panels, new kick panels, new interior plastics, etc.

New sub will be a single Image Dynamics IDmax12 12" sub in a custom ported enclosure/center console which will fire at the back wall so you won't ever see the woofer. New back wall will contain the amps, Kinetik batteries, and fusing. New Image Dynamics 6x9 component set in the kicks. We're also eliminating the door speakers entirely and possibly running a center channel.

Still int he planning stages, but looking like sometime this summer we'll be making some real progress.

Yeah, no kidding. Got the seats stripped down to teh frames. Gonna have them blasted when I get a moment then I can make actual measurements. Right now I'm just going off of what I can think out in my head.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.

I'm using a set of buckets form a '77. Still ahven't had the chance to fit the frames into the cab to make sure they bolt up. Driving the truck daily again until next week, so an 8hr day to tear it apart and put it back together, just aint happening...

Seeing as I'm in California and you're in Texas, my work would become very expensive, very quick. Additionally, I didn't actually "build" this system. I did 90% of the design work and a little grunt work, but most all of it was done by Auto Radio Stereo here in Sacramento. They are also currently reworking my '05 GMC Canyon which has an even more elaborate (and louder) system than this truck.

Nice setup! Mine is slightly downsized from that, but similar. If I ever get my seats, I might actually get it all installed.
