ignition problems
Hi guys! Long story short. Truck shut down due to the HEI hot 12V wire being unplugged. I have now lost all control of my ignition switch. I have to disconnect the ignition wire from the fuse block in order to shut down the truck. Does this symptom sound like it can be fixed by replacing the ignition switch? BTW The switch was left in the on position for over an hour. Thanks for your help.

Re: ignition problems
The switch being left in the on position for an hour shouldnt have hurt it. You drive for more than an hour without problems. It probably has more to do with the truck being over 25 years old. pull the connector off the ignition switch itself and check for a burnt up plug. Thats a good sign that the switch itself is bad and has overheated.
