How far can compressor be from air tank?

I'm sure this has been covered but when I search all I find are threads asking for tank and compressor mounting spots.

So, how far can my compressor be from the air tank? I assume only as far as the braided leader hose? is it be ok to run a leader hose extension? I dont see why it would be a problem other than taking a little more air to fill up right? Thanks

Re: How far can compressor be from air tank?

As far as you want, think of the air hose as extra room for air. having 10 feet of hose between a 5 gallon tank would be no different than 1 foot of hose and a 7 gallon tank. the only difference is the run time of the compressor.
