average price to lay frame?
I'm trying to get a price list done for the overall plans on my truck. I've got a 69 short step. I was thinking of doing a 4-6 static drop and then I started looking at bagged trucks and was wondering what (ballpark) it would cost to have it bagged vs a static drop.

Re: average price to lay frame?
There is a big difference between bagging a truck, and getting one "to lay frame". How low do you really want to go, and what is your budget?

Re: average price to lay frame?
If you are having a shop do it, including all parts, a good rule of thumb is about $800-$1000 an inch. The same applies for body drops. That is assuming the shop is doing proper work.

Re: average price to lay frame?
N2TRUX-I understand what you're saying. Maybe not even lay frame, just slammed pretty low. I was thinking of spending around 2,000 possibly. The reason I ask is bc my friend just got a quote on his 2010 and it was 8k. However, he is running 26's. I was thinking of 20's up front and 22's in the back. Is 2k a reasonable ballpark figure to save up?

your going to spend about 6K for top of the line everything will minimal effort by you. the more effort you put in, the less it cost. You can get it down to around 2K prob if you hunt for parts and you wont have the best of best either way. |

Re: average price to lay frame?
DZL1-I wanted to get the price of a truck that lays frame so then I'll know what top dollar is and I can go down from there. But in reality, since I live in East Texas and the roads are horrible in most places, laying frame would be impractical. A stance like your truck on the other hand, that would be perfect. I love that truck.
edit I meant the stance in your avatar pic. Last edited by Cdaddy731; 02-21-2011 at 09:21 PM. |

Re: average price to lay frame?
Thanks for the compliment. My truck is bagged. I did the work myself. I spent a little over $1500.00 for all the parts. If you search alot you can piece the whole system for around the same amount.

Re: average price to lay frame?
theres other methods if your a little handy on doing some of your own work. as in, paying someone to cup your lower control arms, add that with drop spindles and bags and your laying your front crossmember. not frame, but its pretty damn low. and the rear, you pay someone to do your notch, and you install the bags and drop blocks. again, you wont lay frame but it sure does get low...as in any lower your gonna have to go porterbuilt or z the frame. you can check out my build thread, i tried doing everything on budget and save some coin on doing a lot of my own work. what i mentioned above is how my suspension is...

Re: average price to lay frame?
If you plan on doing it yourself do a search for "pancaked crossmembers" if you are handy with a welder its a good way to get the crossmember high enough to lay the front end as low as the back. and putting up a build thread where you can update and ask advice will probably help alot.
