eliminating R&P twitchiness
My trk really steers nice...all the twitchiness is gone from the T-bird
R&P. I used a Borgeson flow reduction valve in the chevy pump & added 4 washers to the the pressure valve. It now runs at 800psi vs 1100. gives a relaxed drive........Don |

Re: eliminating R&P twitchiness
Just made the same mod to mine, although i've still to try it out.
My buddy's 52 with R&P was a real bear to drive until he made this cheap modification. Worth every cent. |

Re: eliminating R&P twitchiness
All the mods are inside the GM pump so they can not be seen. Do a google search for "GM ps pump pressure reduction" & you will get info.
In addition to the mods you MUST set your caster to 3 1/2 degrees, not factory specs for a Must II. Don |

Re: eliminating R&P twitchiness
mine is at like 5* with the same mods. I like my wheel to fly back to center though.

Re: eliminating R&P twitchiness
The kit is Borgeson p/n 899001 and they sell for about $18.
Each shim reduces the output pressure by 100psi and its as easy as unscrewing the fitting (valve) that the discharge line connects to at the back of the pump. Disassemble the fitting and install the desired number of shims, reassemble and test drive. Jegs, Summit, etc all sell these kits. Up here in Ontario you can get them through Hortons Hot Rods. Re: eliminating R&P twitchiness
If your running hydraboost and a Ford rack this fix doesn't help you. You need the Heidt's pressure bypass. That way you don't loose the 1200 - 1500 psi you need for braking but maintain the 600-800 you need for a Ford Rack.
