Ok guys, got a height question for ya.

I have a '63 1/2 ton LWB and I wanna make it sit like a 4x4 without spending tons of money. I've already planned on getting the wheels and tires but as far as the suspension goes could I just change the coil springs or is there not really a cheap way to do it? Here are some pics of trucks that have the stance I am looking for (sorry if one of these is yours, I just got them off google and a thread where people were just posting pics of 4x4s). I really like the way the last 2 look.

Thanks

Re: Ok guys, got a height question for ya.

Just some thoughts here.

I have seen spacers to put under coils to give them some extra lift.

For the rear, how about using a later model K5 Blazer rear with leaf springs. There you can always use lift blocks for extra height.

Lastly, body lift and give you an extra 3", but personally I dont like them.

Hope that helps.

Re: Ok guys, got a height question for ya.

Way back in the 80's when I had my 63 GMC. I put spacer blocks on the front to raise it 2 1/2". I was a pain to get the alignment right but it worked. I ran 33 x 12.50's and they didn't rub. I used leveling blocks for the rear. Back then the new spacers and blocks cost about 75 bucks. You might be able to get some springs from FABTEC or someone like that. But that's more money I'm sure. Make sure your shocks are the right lengh when you do the change.

Thanks a ton guys. I've heard of the spacers and even thought about going ahead and getting some, but do you think they will help go from stock height to the height of one of these trucks?

Surfdaddy, I don't think I've seen any spacer blocks for these pickups. You have any pics of yours?
