nice 65 C10 on ebay ($$$) - BUT, I have a question about mirrors...

Nice truck: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965-...item4157b51f09

Seems it may be a bit pricey, but it is a very nice truck (minus that seat cover...) - but I HAVE A QUESTION

I have seen those specific shorty side mirrors on several 65-66 trucks, although most 60-66's by far have the stock bent arm with 5" round head (also note that the rectangular head was also available on the SAME bent arm). Does anyone know if these shorty side mirrors were a factory offering or if it's just a coinkidink that several people are mounting the same aftermarket mirror?? (Not unheard of since I THINK LMC sells them). I posted a few pics - the first one is the truck that is for sale, the 2nd is another one that was for sale in NC a while ago with the same shorty side mirrors. The third pic is the normal stock mirror for reference.
Thanks!

I think if $15K is what he wants, that is reasonable, no way you could build one like that for that period. I would go over it with a fine tooth comb though, just to ensure an honest man is honest.

I too have seen those, I think they are car type mirrors, I am not a fan of them on a truck but to each his own.

Re: nice 65 C10 on ebay ($$$) - BUT, I have a question about mirrors...

I'm with you Clyde, I prefer the stock mirrors like in the last picture - but I don't dislike the small ones, depends what one does with the truck. i.e on a lowered hot rod, they might not look too bad. I'm just wondering if I'm missing some minor trivia about what mirrors were available on a NEW truck in the 60's, that's all. Wonder if they could have been a dealer option (kinda like the west coast mirrors?? - or were those only owner installed?) Just curious. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that it's just a coincidence and several owners have installed the same aftermarket mirrors, that's all. But obviously I'm not sure, so that's why I'm fishing for an answer from an expert lurking out there in the airwaves!

I'm not exactly what year they started using those from the factory, but they look like they're from the next generation of truck--'67? '70? Whatever. I think they're factory, just not from these model trucks.

good point Revoh, I think you are correct on the 67-72 ID - I wonder if perhaps if some of them found their way onto late-66 model year trucks!? (that doesn't explain the 65 on ebay, b ut just a thought). Thanks.

The passenger car style mirror did appear with the truck Custom Accessories. I'm sure if that is what you wanted, the dealer would delete the regular truck mirrors all together and install the passenger type at the dealership. Seems you could order a truck the way you wanted then and was not subjected to packaged options.
