the power wire runs out of the left corner of the tailgate and through a hole in the bottom of the bed and ties in to the electrical there
my experance is people cut the wire cause their to lazy to get under the truck to unplug it when they take the tailgate off

Or in the case of my truck, the PO just pulled the tailgate off anyway and tore the wire in half! Ran new wire and got four of the lights to turn on, haven't messed with the last one yet.

Went out during lunch and it looks like its disconnected but also saw a ring terminal that was right next to the wire coming from the tailgate that was cut. Is this the ground for the lights by any chance?

That it is. Should be attached to the bottom of the gate with a sheet metal screw
