Window Vents

Since I am replacing the doors on my '83 and I really need to replace the vents, does any one know if '73 to '87 vents will fit or will I need to narrow it down more? The doors are off of an '83 Sierra.

Re: Window Vents

all 73-87 vent windows are the same, the only small difference is that some of the 80's vents windows dont have the middle screw on the top of the door, but you can easily drill the hole a put one there if you need it.

That was my experience, kind of. I put a window from a 70s truck in my '86. There just wasn't a place to put the middle screw, so I left it out.

Re: Window Vents

If you're switching the whole assembly, then yes, you can put an older vent window in a newer door. There are some differences in where it pivots, how wide the run channel is, and the latch. You can't switch components between the styles.

Re: Window Vents

Thanks for the input, guys. I appreciate it. I was going to go ahead and have the doors installed on the truck, but my BIL more or less convinced me to go ahead and get the doors rebuilt and then put them on the truck.

Re: Window Vents

I was under the impression that the 73-76's are different...
I don't remember for sure though. I know the 77-91's will swap though...
If you can find used from a 89-91 Burb, blazer, or crew they seem to be in pretty decent shape from my experience anyway....

Re: Window Vents

I put newer vents in my older doors and there was a gap in the seal where the middle screw would be in the left side , so I just cut the top of the off of the old middle mount and welded it carefully to the nos vent ! it pulled the seal right in ,
