reverse lights on trailer harness...
I have the 4 prong flat connector. If I plug a trailer up to it or in this case an LED 3rd brake/reverse light...will it work for reverse as well? I've noticed some companies require additional wiring for reverse as well. (LMC Truck for example)
Also if anyone knows NC safety regulations for vehicle inspections I have questions. Thanks! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: reverse lights on trailer harness...
Backup lights should require a seperate wire because its a seperate system. If a backup light is hooked upto a brake light it will light up anytime the brake lights do. I don't know the laws but I would assume they wouldn't like that because it's a bright light in the face of anybody who gets behind you. Just change your 4 prong connector to a 6 prong and add a backup light wire to it. Then if you need to pull a 4 prong trailer, get a 6 to 4 prong adapter for $5. You can use adapters to go from more prongs to less, but you cant go from less prings to more without losing functionality.

No the 4 way flat plug does not have a reverse light circuit in it.
