Re: Underbed gas tank
There have been several posts where early Mustang/Falcon/Cougar tanks have been used. IIRC the tank flange is the same as the frame rail or very close which allows the tank to sit andmount on top of the rails. There are also some posts that use Camaro tanks. These were all rear fill.

Re: Underbed gas tank
You can use a tank that fills behind the license plate but you're gonna have gas splashing on you roll pan and your shoes.

Re: Underbed gas tank
I have not seen any tank threads that would meet your specifications.
Might I suggest you post a picture of your truck? Kind of depends what style roll pan you have, if your truck is a fleetside or a stepside and where the license plate mounts in that roll pan. I was really concerned about the tank hanging low and used an unconventional tank to make sure it didn't. I also am running a roll pan with a license plate in it. You can see the steel gray tank in this photo peaking out beneath the roll pan. If I was to install a filler neck behind the license plate there would be nearly no slope in the filler neck. The tank would only hold a about 4 inches of fuel which would equal at the most 4 gallons. Last edited by lakeroadster; 03-21-2011 at 05:22 PM. |

Re: Underbed gas tank
Take a look in http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=428182. There is a search link there. I built my tank. A drawing is in post #4. I have the fill going in the top of the tank. Maybe you could put it in the side.
