ive decided to get out of cars for now, i just cant afford anything other then a pipedream and to me, thats not worth anything to me. im still going to be around and post. but ive decided to ditch the truck and my vega idea and give up completely on all things car. if you cant afford it all your doing is torturing yourself. i give up

Very few can afford it. We sometimes do this for years and years just hoping that someday we will fulfill that dream of driving the truck finished. Don't give up.

It sucks to have to sell, but being able to live is kinda important. There will always be another truck, project etc.. Take care of yourself and stick around posting. Things will start looking up.

I've been sleeping in my cargo trailer while the truck is in a heated secure warehouse the past two years. Just can't let it go. Been out of work for 3 months now, things seem to be turning around. 3 job offers the same week. I come back to the site to try and help out with information I've saved on the laptop and to recharge my mental batteries. I walk over to the local library for free Wi-Fi. Your not alone bud!

283nova, do hang in there, we're all pullin for you - hope you find something soon. then as things get back on track, life will turn around - and someday you'll be able to spool that pipe dream up again and start on a new project. understand you gotta put things on hold, but all the folks above are right, your pipe dream won't let you give up on it (even if you try), ideas for the next project will just be on the back burner of your mind for now.

You might find yourself face to face with a better, more rare, and less work project because of this. You never know!

Myself I just got started and I'm broke. I started by buying gaskets for the leaks (ok, gasket material since I like to build stuff). Total cost: 16.00 Woo hoo!

there are times i like to sell everything i have But.I always think that if i died and the people that come to clean up this yard or people i knew.In the will they would get it.Its kinda strange.But from all my collecting I have 12 trucks 1 car and a lot of stuff the property i live at has been in my family sence 1962.and it's payed for and we even have a car shop on the same property it can hold up to 5 car's or trucks.So in my travails I've come across a few good deals everything i have has a engine and and trans in them.But most of them don't run.But if i can Just get all the peace to make them work able it will be easy for the next kid guy or women to get it going.I like the word Mock up.It means getting everything to gather before you start the project

Its like my 1971 Nova I have a 396 and 400 trans I found a 1969 Z28 horse shifter console bought and put in a none tilt and none shifter .I bought a set of buckets for it Bought the motor mount for it and the hole rubber Kit for it Put new door pins in found a 1972 4 door with disc brake front end with power brake and steering.The best find was i was on CL found a 1969 Nova Big block AC housing with a new heater and condenser inside of it for 200.00 4 years ago I just checked there going for 1500.00 Now I'm looking to buy all new brake lines and put all this stuff inside the car and if i have to sell it the parts that I've found and bought will sell it for me Plus i found a set of 1968 SS RS camaro Really wheels 7 inch in the front 8 in the rear with rings and center cap's

I agree with everyone. Althought the situation sucks right now, it will never be out of your blood. I've waited almost 2 years without my truck on the road, just looking at it trying to get things saved up or fixed.
Even though you sold your project, when things turn around you'll be back in the mood. Keeping your eye and heart on those "pipe dreams" is sometimes the best way to get through a hard situation. Don't loose hope.

I know everyone has given you some good advice. I can only agree with them and and my 2 cents worth. I am also like you. I have a 64 that i have made some good progress on in the past 3 months, but it has come to a halt for now. I have a wife, 2 kids, and many other bills. Sometimes i just think it would be best for me to sell everything and call it quits like you have posted here. However, I won't do that because i have done that in the past and regretted it every time. This time, i will let my truck sit no matter how long it takes and i accepted that fact that it may never get finished. I will still own it and i can still play with it buying the cheap pieces here and there. Don't loose heart, this hobby can be a rollercoaster ride at times but in the end there is no greater satisfaction, especially when you built it the hard way. Just gives you a greater appreciation for what you've done.

I'll bet you anything, half of the folks out here arein bad shape.
I know what peddling some of the important things is all about.
I can't afford my passion for my '59, so she is sittin'.
I even sold some of my finished components (454/T-400-205TC combo & re-furbished Harrison Heater Unit) to make a months worth of bills. I sure hope times get better soon.....I have a lot of ground to make up.

I ran into a '63 GMC that I couldn't afford and ended up tradin' the pile I was driving and a pistol for it.
She's a real beauty, and I'm sure I'll get over the fact that I'm goin' backwards on the '59.
