83 totaled by ford taurus= parts for my 66?

My cousin had a realy nice 83 c-10.It was totaled out by a ford taurus.I want to buy it for the running v8, turbo 350 trans and the front suspension for my 66 short bed.Will the 83 trans crossmember work in my 66?My 66 used to be a 3 on the tree and 283 v8.What else should i salvage off the 83?It was realy clean only had 52,000 miles on it!

Yes, the front crossmember will fit - requires drilling 1 extra hole and enlarging one on each side.
I used an 83 parts truck for mine: got crossmember with all suspension/disc brakes, power steering box, brake booster/master/proportioning valve and lines, tilt column and some other misc. stuff

I think the rear will work with a kit to change from leafs to coil. May be to wide?
I think the kit was about $130 and required welding & cutting leaf mount off the 83 rear.
( I had planned doing the same "full truck swap" till I decided to stay 6 lug)

You can use all the running gear and drivetrain in your truck, and yes the trans crossmember will work too. That would be a sweet deal for a donor to upgrade your '66.

Thanks guys for the advice im going to buy the 83 tomorow for 300 bucks.Im still undecieded if i want to put the automatic in it or keep the 4 speed in it.I miss having a standard.I will post some pics of both the trucks soon.

My 66 used a 84 donor truck for parts! Entire front crossmember was swapped, 350 engine, and the 4 speed auto trans. Not to mention power steering and power brakes. You have yourself a smokin' deal!
