Choosing the correct size RIMS and TIRES
We are at the point in a build that it is time to weld the rear end to the 4 link set up. Dont want to do this until I know the rims and tires fit around the axle components (shock mounts, brakes) and body but dont want to buy them if they wont work or give me the stance that we want. What do you do in a case like this? Is it all guess and trial?

I would measure for a wheel with a generic backspace that way you don’t have to spend lots of money for custom ones. Then build your componets around them. That’s what I did because I will have street and track wheels for the back.

You really need to know what kind of wheel size you want before you set the link up. Or if you notch the frame. If you set it for an 18 and go 20'' you will have a harder time laying out. But if you set it for 20's and got 18's you will not get much lift.

I agree with these guys. When I ordered my 4 link I ordered my rims and tires, that way I know exactly where to cut the rear and how to set up the 4 link.

This is a little pricey, but I've seriously considered getting one:

Are those available used on eBay? You can always sell it to the next guy when you are done with it. (Percy wheel and tire gauge). Not that expensive compared to trial and error and a massive headache.
