Another Trany question
My Sierra 35 has the sm465 trany in it. I wanted to swap in a 5 speed trany or something, I don't know anything about what one to look for or what would go into the swap, but i am interested in it, overdrive would be nice with a manual.
So what trany would be a quick trany for the c35? Also, would i be able to keep the bench seat? Would i have to do any floor modification? I know i would have to make a cross member for it. Last edited by tc4x4; 04-05-2011 at 08:40 PM. |

Re: Another Trany question
They make an NV4500 2wd... you could always look for that. Since your truck is a 1-ton, I think it'd be the best option. T-5's have the shifter in the wrong place for pickups, and they're not very strong unless you build them right. NV3500 is a decent enough transmission, but I'm not a fan of the one piece bell-housing and casing. I don't think you'll have to change the floor shifter at all, and if you modify the shifter, then you'll be able to keep your bench seat. There were a couple NV4500 swaps over in 4wd, and I'm fairly certain one of the guys had a bench in his truck.
