Rotors or Axles?

I just finished my front end swap (84 crossmember onto my 65 C10) and here is the dillema im having

Id like to keep my original steel wheels but Im pretty sure they wont fit over the disc brakes.

Should I convert the truck to 5 lug or should I get the 6 lug rotors for the front end?

What do you guys think?

Re: Rotors or Axles?

If your 6 lug wheels are the original style 15" wheels for your truck, they won't work with disc brakes. If they are 16" they might work.

Re: Rotors or Axles?

I used some 6 lug ralleys off a 4x4 when I swapped the discs on the front of my '69. The rear lip on the newer steel wheels clears.

Here's a shot from GMC Pauls showing the 15" wheels that will fit the disc front (not the big brakes)

Re: Rotors or Axles?

Here's an earlier thread that may provide some helpful information. Fyi if you do install the 6 lug rotors, the stock wheels "may" fit over the calipers if they are original 5" or 5 1/2" wide rims. Wheels this skinny might fit because the back side of the rim is so shallow. It just depends, some will fit while others won't.

Re: Rotors or Axles?

I went for the 6 lug rotors and stayed original when I swapped front crossmembers . My wheels are aluminum aftermarket 15" and they clear the GM calipers nicely. I am running 235/60/15 on a 9" wheel on all four corners..
I put discs on my Chevelle and went through this with the 14" wheels. ....
Bolt one up and check it out..
