Re: Got a coil spring question for you guys
If it ain't broke, why replace it? If you are happy with the ride of your truck why not keep the springs you have and get or make some lifting blocks?
Basically lifting blocks would go on top of the trailing arm to lift the truck. They make these types of blocks for GM cars. Make some phone calls.. get some dimensional information, heck these might be just the ticket! Something like this ... http://www.globalwest.net/1603.html Last edited by lakeroadster; 04-07-2011 at 05:47 PM. |

Re: Got a coil spring question for you guys
his coils are not stacked up, there's a gap inbetween the coils. That is exactly how they came off the assembly line, with the exception of the rust.

Re: Got a coil spring question for you guys
Lakeroadster, I don't like how my truck sits as is. I can't afford a 3/4 ton so I wanna make mine sit like one. I know it sounds ridiculous but like I said, I'm a low budget high school kid. lol

the standard springs have 6 coils including the mounting coils (top and bottom) and the heavy duty springs have 7 so you would get a easier drop and less time doing it with a wider gap between the coils on the standards. CheifRocka i'll bet you heated more light duty springs than heavies did'nt ya? see ya! kent. |

Re: Got a coil spring question for you guys
Well, back in the 90's we would do alot of GM (g-bodys, full sizers, etc.), F@rds ....
We would ask the customer how he wanted it lowered, and the costs pertaining to each method. Turn the front wheels, stick the torch into the fender well and away we went. $50 typically to lower it that method .... or $150 to diassemble and cut ... Most 'kids' would opt for the cheaper route. Today, I would never offer that kind of service.
