Roll cage rules?

What are the rules for roll cages? I mean to pass multiple associations guidelines(NHRA, ECTA, etc). Thanks, Bradley

Re: Roll cage rules?

If you follow the NHRA rules you should be covered for any other association/sanctioning body.

Make sure you buy a new NHRA rule book and follow the guidelines in the General Rules section.

Re: Roll cage rules?

My advise is to invest in the rulebooks for all of the organizations you plan to run. From my experience, as an example, the timing associations (SCTA, etc.) and land speed sanctioning bodies tend to have more stringent rules on vehicle safety equipment, etc. (e.g., specifications for safety wire, etc.)

Re: Roll cage rules?

How fast do you plan to go? NHRA and IHRA are about the same. Built several so pick a speed and I can help.

Re: Roll cage rules?

Built for over 200, so I dont have to worry about going faster than my safety range.

Re: Roll cage rules?

So you want to build it for over 200? Well for dragracing the rules are based on ET and not speed. Over 200 is a 6 second pass and that is an SFI spec chassis and not just a cage. You can buy copies of the requirements from SFI or the sanctioning bodies. Will be all chromemoly and requires a funny car style cage. I think to build an all steel truck to run 200 at the drag strip would take 1400 hp and upwards of 80 grand if you can do some of the work your self. This is based on what it cost us to run 7.19 at 192 in a Grand Am.
