trans temp.
i got a idea. i never use my clock anyways put another stock temp gauge and wire it up to it. will a temp prob like the ones that go into the head in the water jacket. will that work in the drain plug of my tranny pan? i got a chrome one and it has a drain plug. i know stock didnt. but im thinking about trying it.
has anyone done anything like this. or wired up a trans temp gauge?

You may have to drill a hole & mount tha sender on tha side.. Get a O ring tha matched tha size of it..get a nut that nut that tha same size as threads & bolt it in like tha aftermarket drain plug kits..but can a stock temp gauge be wire independant of tha stock cluster?

The gauge part should be the easy part. It's a 3 wire hook up. Ground,key on 12v,signal. And I can just hard wire that in threw the cluster. Like I did the camaro tach. But just want to see if I can use the drain plug in the pan.

Wouldn't the line pressure test port be better? It is pipe thread and better protected on the side of the case. Jay

Wouldn't that just show the temp of the case not the temp of the fluid ?

No more than a water temp gauge shows the temp of the head. The test port is straight off the pump, so plenty of fluid. Jay

I put my transmission temp sending unit in the trans. coolant line that goes from the tranny to the radiator.
