porterbuilt stage 2 rear questions
For all you guy's running stage 2 rear I have some questions. When my trailing arms are set to 42.5" in length my u-bolts will hit the front of the c-notch before the axle housing will bottom out in the notch. (no bump stops).
2nd, if it was to bottom out without hitting the u-bolt in the front then the panard bar bracket would hit in the rear of the c-notch. Has anyone else run into this problem?

I do not have a porterbuilt setup but i know some people will grind off the rivets and move the truck arm crossmember to properly center the axle within the notch. im sure there are others have delt with this exact problem though with better advice....

To solve the trailing arm problem u can install some 2 inch lowering blocks. The pan hard bar problem I did not have an issue when I intalled mine

I have looked at porterbuilt streetrods website and I have also researched plenty prior to posting. I have also contacted Nate and when he get's a chance I am sure he will chime in.
As for the issue, Nates pictures for install does not appear to have the panard bar adjusted evenly if you look at the rear end u bolt bucket on both sides. The trailing arms I am using are 3" drop. Now I could very easily lengthen the trailing arms to miss the front u-bolt hitting. But as I stated before then the panard bar bracket will hit in the back of the c-notch. If it was not powder coated I could remove some material to clear. (how will that effect the wheel centred in wheelwell?) I was reading that scoti's truck was running with no bumpstops but his build thread pics don't show much due to picture angle. The only other variable that I can think of is I have the 1 pc c-notch vs the 2 pc notch. Is the new two pc notch have a larger opening (front to back)?

Will you be using a bumpstop upon final assembly? There are 'pancake' poly stops 3/8" tall, so you wouldn't lose much drop, and will save that pretty powder-coat. Just a thought, as if this is the case, you may not have the same problem in reality as you are experiencing in mock-up...

We are on the same thought process. I talked to Nate last week and he is sending me some bump stops with my other parts to try. I thought I would ask the question as I know some guy's claim to be running without them and was curious how? At the end of the day if the bump stops keep it from hitting that is what I will do. I am the type of person who always asked why when there is a discretion. lol

They're a kit that you do final welding on because of the variance between truck frames. Contact Porterbuilt for info on them.

I was just curious how some people without bump stops were able to bottom out in the notch without hitting on the U-bolt. There should be no differences if trailing arm and notch dimensions are the same? Also wanted to confirm I hadn't missed something on install...
