Difference in cross sills?

I'm making a bed for my '53 3100 (as it came without one), and wonder what the difference is in the front and other cross sills. Is it just the holes to bolt the front panel to? Any differnence in thickness? Are there any instructions or diagrams online about how a bed is assembled?
