Radiator Question
Hey Guys what Radiator are you guys using in your 64',65',66 I have a 64 GMC it had a Buick 350 in it and I recently put a 350 crate motor with a 700R4 my current Radiator leeks and was not the factory one so I looking to replace it What is everyone using

Do you have access to a factory original,,, mainley for the tanks itself, then have it recored, or buy from summit (aluminum) that would be you next best bet...and you`ll need a shroud if you don`t have one.

My only consern is I don't know what the P/O took out of the truck for mounting hardwhere and would it matter if the truck had a 6 or a 8 cyl in it, for the factory style set up |

I am using the factory three core radiator no issues. Bought it new at Autozone, I did add a tranny cooler for TH-350 because of the stall in the converter. My truck has two mounts on bottom with rubber inserts and one behind the hood latch. Cools my 350 with ac just fine.

I went through this in a panic a few months ago. Radiator shop couldn't get new core to fix my old one. Radiator shop wanted $500 for a "custom" manufactured replacement radiator. No thanks. Radiators on E bay were $225, but were aluminum from China. No thanks. I found a new copper/brass three row radiator for $186.79 from Rock Auto (www.rockauto.com) supplied by Proliance, made in Mexico. Ended up $207 with shipping. The radiator has connections for auto tranny cooler that I didn't need and was slightly larger on the outlet then my original (1.75" vs. 1.5"). I am well satisfied. One note on measurements that I learned is that they don't include the tank. You need to add the tanks to get overall dimensions. Just put one in my daughters 60 yesterday I bought an alum
One from jegs but I had to weld some agle on each side and drill holes to match the original bolt holes cost me 150 way to go if u can weld alum or know some one who can I will post some picks next week I'm out of town until next Tuesday My truck has a 283 radiator is a generic 4 core a bit smaller than the original But it will b more than enough Posted via Mobile Device |

Why reinventing the wheel, going with aluminum and modifying brackets and components to get it to fit when there are direct bolt in OEM types for less money? I didnt modify anything, I just pulled the old one, dropped this one in, attached the elect fans and filled it up.

Looks like putting a stock replacment is the way to go, the one that was in the truck with the Buick motor i'm pretty sure was out of a car, looks like finding one at at wreacking yard is gooing to be a tough find thanks for the links guys

I bought a champion aluminum rad off of ebay with the eletric fan and shroud for my street truck and it bolted in easy ,fit great and works awsome. I like it so much I think I will buy one for my prostreet truck but the next one will have dual fans in it.
