side trim removal?
I have searched for trim removal on google and here but couldn't come up with anything. I want to start pulling the trim off the side of the 66. Most of it is still in good shape so I don't want to ruin it trying to do it the wrong way. Also can you buy replacement trim?

The trim is hard to find in good shape (at least for long beds) but it's held on with nuts on the back side. I have most of mine off, kind of a pain to take off while the sheet metal is on the truck. But if you pull the bed and fenders apart, it's a lot easier.

I was thinking the same about the rear cab trim. I have beeen told that it's really rare to find in good shape and mine is perfect. How can I remove it without bending or denting it. I know they make a tool for removing trim but I don't know if it's universal or not.

I think the trim tool is for pop-on trim. I don't have any pictures, but it uses the sheetmetal nuts. On the trim side, there is a football (kind of) piece that holds the screw side on the back.
If nobody has pictures handy, I'll take some when I go home at lunch and post up. To get it off clean, I loosened all the nuts but left them on until I had them all loose, then took it off as one piece. Mine is pretty banged up, I am making custom trim for mine. <edit> Not sure how to get to the rear cab trim, I could get to the back side of all mine.

I also have the rear cab trim...it is held on by wire-type snap-in clips, so using a wide, flat removal tool will help from bending the trim.
Most of the side trim is fastened via molding bolt fasteners with speed nuts.

The rear cab trim is really rare. I have read it only came in 1961, but that was on a blog. I haven't sewn one in person that I can recall since I started driving these trucks in 87. MAR-K makes great side trim and needs to make that back piece.

I just pulled all of my trim off and found both snap and nut/bolt clips. The nuts can be hard to reach, but it is possible to remove all of them by yourself. My shoulders were on fire all afternoon, but that's the price of being to stubborn to call a few friends. Check LMC for replacement trim.
