71 vs 72 rear view mirror

On my 72 Blazer I just had the new windshield installed. I dont want to glue the mirror back onto the glass. I have a 71 mirror also and want to put that in instead. I just like how it attaches to the top of the windsheild frame rather then the glass. My question is was the mirror location changed in 72 for a spacific reason or was GM just doing something different for the 72 model year?

Just a model year change. Newfangled technology to help sell cars.

Re: 71 vs 72 rear view mirror

I'm going to a 71 style in my 72 blazer as well. I don't know how many times I've glued it back on over the years. LOL!

It was moved to windshield to comply with safety standards. In a wreck the glue on will give way to reduce a head injury!
