what I would like to do is use an after market tilt steering column

You would just use it in the box instead of the column. Cut the column about 6 inches above the box and cut through the steering shaft. then cut abut 2 inches down and do not cut through the steering shaft. You want to end up with the tube at the wide poing and about 2 inches of shaft above that. Then file two flats on it to accept a 3/4" DD ujoint. Slide the conversion bearing onto the shaft tap into the cloumn. You will need a 3/4x3/4 DD ujoint, a short 3/4" DD shaft and a 3/4" DD X 1" DD ujoint for the new column. The new DD shaft length depends on where ou set the cloumn. |
