New Here
My name is Rudy and I am an addict!! I have an 81 GMC Sierra Classic Step side 2WD. I bought it last friday. Right now it has the 305 with a 3spd automatic trans. I hope to move to a 350 soon but I havent settled on a transmission yet. Looks like i will spend alot of time here learning and posting my progress. GREAT SITE!

Re: New Here
Welcome!! Nice truck, too! I'm partial to the 700r4 if you do plan on swapping transmissions... but it all depends on what you want it for. What are your plans for it?

Re: New Here
Agreed , I do like the 700-r4 , In mine with highway gears I even get respectable mileage (for being shaped like a brick)

Re: New Here
Welcome, "neighbor"! Nice truck you've got there. I, too, like the 700R4. If you're going to build a 350, it's easy and almost as cheap to build a stroker

Re: New Here
Cool truck! I would probably stay with the stock 3spd auto (assuming it's a TH-350) if you plan on using your truck as a truck. The 700R4 is nice because it has overdrive, but I'm not a big fan of it right now.

Re: New Here
Welcome to the forum Rudy. Looks like you picked up a really clean stepper. I have to agree with the majority here. A 350/700r4 combo is hard to beat.
