Frame cleaning treatment: What methods do you guys do?
Do you scrape the rust, paint over it, primer it, undercoat it, or do you simply hit it with Wd-40 twice a year which is what I do? Just curious!!

Re: Frame cleaning treatment: What methods do you guys do?
I don't do anything. There isn't enough rust on my old 83 Jimmy frame to make any difference. The placed that rust are the door sills and bottoms of the front fenders. The reason is road dirt collects in these areas and attracts moisture.
If I were worried about it, I would wire brush off any surface rust on the frame, perhaps yearly and would coat it with old motor oil drained during an oil change. At the rate mine is rusting, it will easily outlive me by several times. |

I am wondering this same question. I have just enough rust that the factory paint is flaking off the frame. what should I do? will a wire wheel and some POR 15 be enough to stop the rust

I would use an etch primer instead, I'e had bad experiences with POR15.

I use raw flax oil, a little fresh engine oil and a little thinn rust protection -the type that you can use in doors ect.
Raw flax oil is what they used in the old days on trains here in Sweden I have heard |
