68 front suspension swap
Im sure this topic has been covered several times before, but I would like to make sure Im not going to open a huge can of worms. I recently purchased an 82 c10. Ive seen where guys have swapped the front suspension, crossmember and all in older trucks. The 82 has dropped springs and spindles and I would like to slide all of this under my 68. Ive been told and read that its ALMOST a bolt in swap but I would still like to solicit some advice to make the process as smooth as I can. Will I need any other parts than the ones from my donor truck? Which steering box should I use, both have power steering? Which motor mount towers should I use, both are v8 trucks and Im also using the engine/trans from the 82 in the 68? And any advice in general would be very much appreciated, thanks

Re: 68 front suspension swap
its pretty much a bolt in deal you dont even need to swap cross members i actually like the 68 A arms as well they have smaller bushings better for ground clearence all you need to do is swap the ball joints and i would use the whole steering from the 82 box tie rods everything thats what i did on the 68 im working on but the A arms bolt up in the same place the cross members are pretty much identical you can go either way on the eng mounts i like the 67-72 ones i think they look cleaner

Re: 68 front suspension swap
or you can always go with that porter build set up that everyone and their mom has gone with i think its allot of money to spend when you can do a simple z in the frame and get the same result for a fraction of the cost but thats just my opinion i know allot of guys swear by porter built because its bolt in

Re: 68 front suspension swap
Swaped a 86 crossmember to my 68 and I had to drill one hole on each side and enlarge on hole and it bolted right back up.

Re: 68 front suspension swap
Yea it's a simple project and even easier if you just swap the arms unless your goin from 1/2 Ton to 3/4 ton the upper arm studs are a diff size
