converting a 68' gmc 2500 8 lug front to a 1500 5 lug setup.

Is this just a question of springs, spindles and 5 lug rotors or is there somthing I'm missing? Any help would be welcomed! Its a super nice original truck,327, original paint, been in california its whole life so no rust pictures coming soon!

Differences:
spindles
lower control arms
rotors
calipers
steering linkage
tie rod ends

Give us a little more info on what you have planned and what parts you have.
Total suspension rebuild?
Lowering?

I just want to get this sucker down! Early classics has a custom spindle with a 2 1/2 '' drop that bolts right on and is designed just for this conversion.

Since you plan to lower it, do you also plan to go to aftermarket wheels? If so, you should look at the limited options available in 8 lug before you make your decision. Yes you can drop it with the ECE spindles, but then your wheel/tire selection is very limited.

The ECE "conversion" spindles for 3/4-ton trucks allow you to use 1/2-ton 5lug or 6-lug rotors without changing balljoints or tie rods.
You will also need to use 1/2-ton calipers, dust shields, and bearings.
