Major dilema :(
Well, Ive run into a major problem.
In the process of trying to replace and update my suspension I pulled apart my front end and had a local member sandblast it before I reassembled. Im not sure what happened but the guy and my parts have gone MIA. So, at this point im stuck with a truck in my driveway up on jackstands and really, really need my truck. Ive had to rent a truck today to pickup some building materials that needed to be moved asap, I have a yard full of reno materials to get to the dump, I have paid to deliver windows... the list goes on. I really need my truck running. Im not sure how to go about it but does anyone have "extra" upper and lower front arms? At this point Im in danger of having my truck 'removed' from my place because its been sitting on blocks for almost two months.... Any help is hugely appreciated... |

Re: Major dilema :(
You can get a 73-87 front end from a junk yard its actually a little bit of an upgrade

Is the person a member on the board? if so, have they been on the board lately? Have you been where the parts were?

Re: Major dilema :(
Problem is there is little to no local parts, any year. The one yard I can get to would charge more for the used parts from a 73-87 than I could buy new (3-$400 or more). I also already purchased a complete suspension upgrade from CPP, springs, ball joints, tie rods etc. and hope to not have to buy a whole lot more.
My area is more the issue, there isnt anything here; not much used and nothing new. The individual is a member of the board but has not been on in quite some time, I spoke with him two to three weeks ago about my time / need issue and everything was somewhat worked out. Ive tried unsuccesfully to contact by phone or in person with no luck. I dont want to jump to any conclusions but Im really stuck. I will be in the interior of BC for a week or two shortly so if I cant find anything by then will try down there. Even been given the go-ahead from my better half to get things up and running if they can be found down there. Just hoping I dont have an ultimatum letter on my door before I leave and no truck by the time I get back. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. |

Look at any for sale type forums inthe areas you will be traveling....you should be able to pick something up VERY cheap.

Re: Major dilema :(
Little bit different being that he's in the Yukon Territories....compared to being down south.
I'd be heading to pay a face-to-face visit with the guy you took them to and let him know what's coming if he doesn't take a trip to the toilet and produce your parts.....

Re: Major dilema :(
To bad you live so far away. I have a complete 68 front end that I am upgrading to 73-87 that will probably go to scrap. You could have it, but shipping would be killer I am guessing. I say go find the guy!

Either check the parts board for a set, or pay to be a subscribing member. Then you can post a wanted to buy thread and see if someone is willing to sell you what you need and mail uou the parts. I can sell you new if that is what you are looking for and mail them. WES

Re: Major dilema :(
Im in a giving mood today. I have a pair of upper Arms that I am willing to hook you up with. Been sitting in my garage for a while. They are stripped and painted with Por-15. No ball joints or bushings, etc. You can have them for Free, you just pay the shipping cost. Let me know if I can help you out.

I fully understand the difficuly of parts aquasition in the Yukon Territory verses the "south"..neck...the lower 48 for that matter, however my recomendation was he look as HE mentioned while in the interior of BC for a week or two. Although probably not an abundance of good used parts available his OPTIONS are probably a bit better.

Re: Major dilema :(
You should contact the board administrator via PM. Sometimes they have ways of helping when it is board member to board member.
I have a set of sand blasted upper and lower a arms off a 69 (no idea if these will work for you) you can have for free. Ill never use them, they are just scrap weight to me. Ive done a couple of relays with BC board members that come down to the Seattle area. Maybe ask over in the Canadian part of the board to see if any BC members are coming down this way. Ask if they could grab them from me and hold them for you to pick up when you are in BC.

Re: Major dilema :(
Well to add to you dilemma. I went to the post office to get a shipping quote for you and apparently there is no shipping to Canada right now. Apparently they are on strike up there. They couldn't even give me a quote on the price. Only way was to send global express and that was about $100. SORRY
